Mapex, and Majestic Partner with University of North Georgia Bands
Mt. Juliet, TN – February 29, 2016– KHS America, home of Mapex Drums and Majestic Percussion is proud to announce their recent partnership established with the University of North Georgia Department of Music. This relationship will commence with the University of North Georgia Marching Band performing exclusively on Mapex marching drums, and Majestic percussion for the 2016 competitive season.
“We are very pleased to welcome the University of North Georgia to the Mapex/Majestic family,” states Chris Hankes, School Music Business Unit Manager for KHS America. “Their vision for the evolution of their program and creation of additional opportunities for students to participate in music is highly commendable. We are proud to support their mission.”
The University of North Georgia Marching Band, in existence since 1873, is the oldest college marching band in the state of Georgia and is one of the oldest in the United States. As the university has grown and changed over the past three centuries, the UNG Marching Band has similarly evolved from a traditional military band into its present form as an indoor competitive marching ensemble, focused on competition in the Independent World Division of the WGI Winds competitive circuit and Drum Corps International’s SoundSport division.
“The University of North Georgia Department of Music is pleased to partner with Mapex and Majestic for both our marching and concert percussion programs,” says Andy David, Head of the Department of Music at the University. “It is great to get to know the people behind these brands, and find that they share our values. We look forward to a long and productive partnership.”
The University of North Georgia prides itself in offering a full range of music classes and performance opportunities for all university students, regardless of major. Additionally, the program provides a unique opportunity to pursue a career in music in an environment small enough for personalized instruction yet large enough to provide a variety of ensembles and special activities.
